Allen Shibu,
Keighley: Police are investigating claims that a schoolboy was attacked in Keighley, West Yorkshire, while he played with his young sister. Aiden Granger, 14, received treatment for his head and body following the incident in the Knowle Park area. Police rushed to Victoria Road just before 7pm on Monday after neighbours saw trouble flare up only yards from the boy’s house. An ambulance was called to the scene, and took Oakbank School student Aiden to Airedale Hospital, where he received treatment for injuries to his arm, face and head. Aiden said he and his 12-year-old sister, Lauren, had been playing with friends in nearby Colton Street at teatime on Monday, just before the incident happened. He added: “We were just hanging about having a laugh. Aiden said he tried to get away from some men who had begun following him, but slipped on the pavement and grazed his hand as he fell to the ground. He said he could not remember much about the alleged attack that followed. Aiden’s parents, Becky and Eddie, suspect the incident may have been sparked by a snowball fight the previous evening involving Aiden and his friends. Mrs Granger said: “Aidan picked up a snowball and threw it at his friends, but missed and hit a house. “The family have lived in the Knowle Park neighbourhood for the past five years, and moved into their present house in Victoria Road about a year ago. Mrs Granger added: “You don’t see trouble round here anymore. You get kids playing in the street, but we’ve never had any problems before. A police spokesman this week confirmed officers were called to Victoria Road in Keighley at 6.48pm on Monday following a report of an assault. He said: “Officers attended and found a 14-year-old boy had suffered bruising to his head and body after an altercation with another male. Enquiries are continuing.”
