ശബരിമലയിൽ യുവതികൾ ദർശനം നടത്തിയതായി സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. ഇന്ന് പുലർച്ചെ 3.15 നായിരുന്നു യുവതികളായ ബിന്ദുവും കനക ദുർഗ്ഗയുമാണ് പോലീസ് സഹായത്തോടെ അതീവ രഹസ്യമായി ദർശനം നടത്തിയത്. അർദ്ധരാത്രിയിൽ പുരുഷൻമാർ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന എട്ടംഗ സംഘത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഇവർ പമ്പയിൽ എത്തിയത്. സുരക്ഷ ഒരുക്കുന്നതിലുള്ള ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട് പോലീസ് അറിയിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഇവർ പിന്മാറാൻ തയ്യാറായില്ല. തുടർന്ന് പോലീസ് രഹസ്യ പദ്ധതി തയ്യാറാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. വലിയ നടപ്പന്തലിൽ എത്തിയ യുവതികളെ മേൽപ്പാലം വഴി കടത്തിവിടാതെ ട്രാക്ടർ കടന്നു പോവുന്ന വഴിയിലൂടെയാണ് സന്നിധാനത്തേയ്ക്ക് എത്തിച്ചത്. യുവതികൾ ദർശനം നടത്തി പമ്പയിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയ ശേഷമാണ് ഇക്കാര്യം ദേവസ്വം ബോർഡ് അധികൃതർ പോലും അറിയുന്നത്. യുവതികൾ തന്നെ തങ്ങളുടെ പക്കലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന മൊബൈൽ ഫോൺ ദൃശ്യങ്ങൾ പുറത്തു വിട്ടാണ് വാർത്ത ലോകത്തോട് അറിയിച്ചത്.
ശബരിമലയിൽ ആചാരലംഘനം നടന്നതിനേത്തുടർന്ന് തന്ത്രി നട അടച്ചു. ദർശനം നടത്തിയ യുവതികളുടെ വീടിന് പോലീസ് കനത്ത സുരക്ഷ ഏർപ്പെടുത്തി. സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ വ്യാപകമായ അക്രമസംഭവങ്ങൾ അരങ്ങേറുകയാണ്. തലസ്ഥാനത്ത് പോലീസും ബി ജെ പി – യുവമോർച്ചാ പ്രവർത്തകരും തമ്മിൽ തെരുവു യുദ്ധമായിരുന്നു നടന്നത്. പല സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലും കടകൾ അടപ്പിച്ചു. വാഹന ഗതാഗതം മിക്കയിടങ്ങളിലും പ്രതിഷേധത്തെത്തുടർന്ന് തടസപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. നാളെ സംസ്ഥാന വ്യാപകമായ ഹർത്താലിന് ശബരിമല കർമ്മസമിതി ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. യു ഡി എഫ് നാളെ കരിദിനമാചരിക്കുകയാണ്.

ലണ്ടന്‍ ഹിന്ദുഐക്യവേദിയുടെ വനിതകളുടെ കൂട്ടായ്മ അണിയിച്ചൊരുക്കിയ ധനുമാസ തിരുവാതിര വളരെ ഹൃദ്യമായിരുന്നു. ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ M-PHARM പരീക്ഷയില്‍ ഉയര്‍ന്ന മാര്‍ക്കോടെ BRIGHTON UNIVERSITYയില്‍ നിന്നും വിജയിച്ച കുമാരി സ്വാതി സദന്‍ ന് (ഹേവാര്‍ഡ് ഹീത്ത് ഹിന്ദു സമാജം) വേദിയില്‍ Mr Ashok Kumar അനുമോദിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി തുടര്‍ന്ന് ശബരിമലയിലെ ആചാരസംരക്ഷണത്തിനു ഐക്യദാര്‍ഥ്യം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഭക്തജനങ്ങള്‍ അയ്യപ്പജ്യോതി തെളിയിച്ചു തമസോമാ ജ്യോതിര്‍ഗമയ എന്ന ഉപനിഷത്തെ മന്ത്രം ഏറ്റുചൊല്ലി തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതിഷേധവും അതുപോലെ ആചാരപാലനത്തിനുള്ള പ്രതിജ്ഞയും എടുക്കുകയുണ്ടായി, എല്ലാവര്‍ഷത്തെയും പോലെ ശ്രീ ഹരിഗോവിന്ദന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ (താമരശ്ശേരി ഇല്ലം) ഹരിവരാസനത്തോടെ ഈ വര്‍ഷവും മണ്ഡലപൂജ അവസാനിച്ചു.

The Invisible Saviors
“What happened to my pretty princess? Why are you gloomy today?” asked Dadaji surprisingly. Without uttering a word, little Pihu kept her school bag inside her room and sat silently nearby the window looking at the hills and dales. Dadaji sat near to Pihu and said – “I will be sad if I can not see your cute dimple on your cheek. So, smile please…”
“No, I am annoyed and angry” said little Pihu. Dadaji lifted little Pihu and made her sit on his shoulder. “You enjoy a camel ride now” said Dadaji with a smile and started walking to the grassland nearby the house. Pihu started smiling slowly. Dadaji walked funny by shaking his head. Later, they sat on a black rock in the grassland.
With refreshed mood, little Pihu said – “Dadaji, Headmaster asked me to speak about Ozone Layer tomorrow in the assembly but I have no idea about it. Already I have enough to study and where is the time for all these unnecessary topics!”
Dadaji, with a smile, pointed his finger to the sky and asked Pihu – “What all do you see there?” Pihu casually looked above and said – “Clouds… sky… some birds… sun…”
“Anything else?” asked Dadaji. Pihu stared at the sky for some more time and said – “Hmm… nothing else. After sunset, moon and stars will be visible”.
“Yes, you are right” Dadaji appreciated little Pihu and continued – “There are plenty of invisible things in the sky. We are supposed to know about such matters that possess huge value in our life”. Pihu could not understand much.
Sun hid behind the clouds. A few sparrows quarreled and flew around. Peacocks stared at Pihu. Dadaji lay on the dry grasses and said –
“Nature is a great phenomenon. Life in earth is dependent on many factors. Today, knowingly or unknowingly, we are destroying our environment. We are supposed to take care of our land, sky, water, air and many such factors but unfortunately we are destroying the Nature. Ultimately, we are the sufferers”. Dadaji remained silent for a while.
Pihu curiously asked – “Dadaji, how are we destroying the sky? Why should we worry about those invisible things which are far away from us?”
Dadaji felt happy on Pihu’s curiosity. He wiped his spectacles and said – “They are Invisible Saviors. You might have heard about skin cancer, sunburn, cataracts and such diseases. These are the result of our negligence and disregard to the sky or the Nature or the environment”.
“What is the connection between sky and diseases?” little Pihu exclaimed. Dadaji, looking at the sky, continued – “The ozone layer or ozone shield is a region of Earth’s stratosphere that absorbs most of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation. It contains high concentrations of ozone in relation to other parts of the atmosphere. The ozone layer is mainly found in the lower portion of the stratosphere, from approximately 20 to 30 kms above earth. The ozone layer was discovered in 1913 by the French physicists Charles Fabry and Henri Buisson. The ozone layer prevents most harmful wavelengths of ultraviolet light from passing through the earth’s atmosphere. These wavelengths cause skin cancer, sunburn and cataracts”.
Pihu’s face bloomed with surprise. She looked at the sky as if she was watching it for the first time. After a few minutes’ thoughts, she said – “So, ozone layer is important. Dadaji continued – “In 1976 atmospheric research revealed that the ozone layer was being depleted by chemicals released by industries, mainly chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). These compounds are transported into the stratosphere by the wind after being emitted at the surface. Once in the stratosphere, they release halogen atoms through photo dissociation which catalyze the breakdown of ozone into oxygen. Ozone depletion threatened life on earth”.
Pihu wondered. She could, by now, understand the importance of the ozone layer and the danger behind its depletion.
“Now, I will tell you about the Montreal Protocol” said Dadaji. Little Pihu moved closer to her Dadaji and eagerly sat.
“Ozone depletion generated worldwide concern over increased cancer risks and other negative effects. These concerns led to the adoption of the Montreal Protocol in 1987 which bans the production of CFCs, halons and other ozone depleting chemicals. The ban came into effect in 1989. Ozone levels stabilized by the mid 1990s and began to recover in the 2000s. Recovery is projected to continue over the next century. The Montreal Protocol is considered the most successful international environmental agreement. In 1994, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 16th September as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer or ‘World Ozone Day’ to commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol on that date in 1987”.
Dadaji stopped his speech and looked at little Pihu. Pihu’s mouth was kept open while hearing Dadaji. Unable to control his laugh, Dadaji shut her mouth and said – “Don’t let ultraviolet rays go into your mouth”. Pihu laughed a lot, pinched Dadaji’s hand and said – “So, we must protect our environment to save life in earth. We must not harm our animals and plants. We must do awareness programmes on various environmental topics and Invisible Saviors”.
Dadaji appreciated Pihu for her quick understanding and asked – “So, are you ready for the speech about Ozone Layer?”
“Yes, Dadaji” said little Pihu. “I will write down all the information that you gave me today about ozone layer, depletion and Montreal Protocol. I will confidently speak about the importance of Ozone Layer as well as World Ozone Day Celebrations”.
“Very good, my dear” happily Dadaji hugged little Pihu and kissed on her dimple cheek. By then, sun had set and darkness was falling around gradually. Birds had already left for their roost. Pihu held Dadaji’s hand while returning home. Pihu eagerly looked at the sky and smiled. Stars shimmered while the moon smiled shiningly.
After dinner, Pihu prepared her speech confidently. Moon and stars smiled and winked at pretty Pihu. A nightingale sang melodiously from the dales. Pihu slowly closed her eyes.
In her sleep, Pihu whispered – “The Invisible Saviors!!!”

ബ്ളൂ ഫ്ളാഷിംഗ് ലൈറ്റുമായി എമർജൻസി റണ്ണിലായിരുന്നു പോലീസ് കാർ.ഇന്നലെ വൈകുന്നേരം ഏഴ് മണിയോടെയാണ് സംഭവം നടന്നത്. ഇടിച്ച പോലീസ് കാർ ഡ്രൈവർ സംഭവത്തിൽ പരിക്ഷീണിതനായി രണ്ടു കൈയ്യും തലയ്ക്ക് കൊടുത്ത് റോഡിലിരുന്നതായി ദൃസാക്ഷികൾ പറഞ്ഞു. സ്നേഹമയനും വിശാലഹൃദയനുമായിരുന്നു കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ട ടോണിയെന്ന് സുഹൃത്തുക്കൾ സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു. ഇൻഡിപെൻഡന്റ് പോലീസ് കംപ്ളെന്റ്സ് കമ്മീഷൻ അന്വേഷണം ആരംഭിച്ചു.

അമേരിക്കയിലെ കോളിര്‍വില്ലെയില്‍ ഇരുനില കെട്ടിടത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന തീപിടിത്തത്തില്‍ ഇന്ത്യാക്കാരായ മൂന്ന് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികള്‍ മരിച്ചു. ഷാരോണ്‍ നായിക് (17), ജോയ് നായിക് (15), ആരോണ്‍ നായിക് (14) എന്നിവരാണ് മരിച്ചത്. സഹോദരങ്ങളായ ഇവര്‍ മിസിസിപ്പിയിലെ സ്കൂളിലാണ് പഠിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഇവര്‍ താമസിച്ച വീടിന്റെ ഉടമ കാരി കോഡ്രിറ്റും(46) തീപിടിത്തത്തില്‍ മരിച്ചു.
ഞായറാഴ്ച അപകടമുണ്ടായതായി മരിച്ച കുട്ടികളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടവര്‍ ഫേസ്ബുക്കിലൂടെ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. രാത്രി പതിനൊന്ന് മണിയോടെയാണ് തീപിടിത്തമുണ്ടായത്. വീട്ടുടമ കാരിയുടെ ഭര്‍ത്താവ് ഡാനിയല്‍ കോഡ്രിറ്റും മകന്‍ കോളും അപകടത്തില്‍നിന്ന് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു. തീപിടിത്തമുണ്ടായ ഉടന്‍ ഡാനിയല്‍ രണ്ടാം നിലയിലെ ജനാലയിലൂടെ പുറത്തുചാടി സഹായത്തിനായി അഭ്യര്‍ഥിച്ചുവെന്ന് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍ പറയുന്നു. മരിച്ച കുട്ടികള്‍ തെലങ്കാനയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ളവരാണെന്നാണ് പ്രാഥമിക വിവരം. കുട്ടികളെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള കൂടുതല്‍ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ വ്യക്തമല്ല. ഇവരുടെ പിതാവ് ഒരു പാസ്റ്ററാണെന്ന വിവരം മാത്രമാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ ലഭ്യമായത്.
